Three generations from one family, spanning more than 60 years of dedicated engineering service to the printing and converting industry, provided a solid foundation for the formation of Advanced Engineering Systems in January 2002.

Like many companies, the Second World War created opportunities for innovative design and advanced engineering skills in industries not previously developed in Australia. It was in this environment that Henry Hayward established a business that designed and manufactured the first rotogravure printing machine used for the production of flexible packaging materials in Australia.

This company was to grow under the name “COMPRINT” to become a leading international supplier of rotogravure printing and converting machinery, successfully exporting to the expanding markets of Asia. During the 1990’s Comprint machines exceeding one hundred million dollars in value, were sold to the Peoples Republic of China, endorsing the companies dominance in the region.

The advanced level of engineering design required to achieve such success, created a foundation for further product development allied to the printing and converting industry. Extrusion coating and laminating machines, high speed rotary die cutting and stacking systems and flexographic printing machines all formed part of an expanding portfolio of products.

Advanced Engineering Systems Pty Ltd, (AES), are engineering specialists, dedicated to servicing the printing and converting industry. Our services range from the supply of new equipment to total project management of custom designed upgrades of existing equipment. AES represent some of the worlds leading manufacturers of machinery and accessories servicing the flexible packaging and folding carton industries. We have successfully completed major machinery upgrades for many of Australia’s leading printing and converting companies.

AES and our mechanical manufacturing and electrical business partners, have a machine building background with a wealth of experience in continuous web printing and converting machinery. Our wide ranging expertise, covers such processes as rotogravure and flexographic printing, UV and air impingement drying, extrusion and adhesive lamination, printing registration systems, web turner bars and a range of finishing systems, such as rotary die cutting, embossing, creasing, punching, sheeting and slitting.

Having designed and built high speed web fed machines, capable of non-stop production of flexible packaging and folding carton substrates, AES has unique technology relating to flying splice unwinding and rewinding systems and associated web tension control.

Whether you are processing 7 micron aluminium foil or 400gsm carton board, AES has the know-how to service your needs. The vision of Advanced Engineering Systems is to draw on the collective expertise of its owners, employees, suppliers and business partners to create an engineering design centre of excellence, servicing the printing and converting industry.
